Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations Online is expected to receive new features twice a year with updates released in April and October, although the team has struggled to maintain a consistent release schedule in the past. Current and upcoming versions of the online service are shown here. The latest version, called 8.1, became generally available in Oct. 2018.

In Aug. 2018 Microsoft shortened the existing support end dates for all older versions to end in Apr. 2019, and customers must migrate to the latest version by this date. The one exception is for customers on version 7.3 who have unfulfilled extension requests with Microsoft, to whom Microsoft has promised an additional year of support.

After Apr. 2019, the new servicing model will require customers to accept updates twice per year, resulting in more testing of customizations and recertification of systems for regulatory compliance. Customers are required to take the update during an available update window within 90 days of general availability.
