Dynamics CRM Server 2016 became generally available in Dec. 2015 to on-premises customers and received the Dec. 2016 service pack in Dec. 2016. This is the first update under the new Dynamics 365 branding, and it focuses on administrative and developer enhancements, new machine learning capabilities that connect to Azure services, and some minor functional improvements.
CRM 4.0 is supported until Apr. 2018; however, the product only works on Internet Explorer (IE) 8 and IE9, which are no longer supported on any current Windows release, so customers may need to upgrade by default to a newer CRM version or continue to use CRM 4.0 with a third-party browser.
CRM Server 2016 received its first service pack, SP1, in May 2016, alongside an update to CRM Online, and then a subsequent service pack in Dec. 2016 called the Dynamics 365 December 2016 Service Pack (CRM 2016). Customers have until July 10, 2018, to apply SP1 and Jan. 8, 2019, to apply the second service pack to continue receiving support.
