SQL Server’s business intelligence and data-mining components (primarily Analysis Services) can process and return results from large, complex data sets. The key related features for SQL Server 2017 are shown here by edition. Express edition does not include any of the Analysis Services features and is not shown in this chart.

The feature mix changed with SQL Server 2016 SP1, released in Nov. 2016, improving the performance of Analysis Services in Standard edition. Notably, it gained limited-version ColumnStore and database compression features that formerly required Enterprise.
