Analyst ReportAzure Data Studio for Data Engineers
- Azure Data Studio is a locally installed, cross-platform application for querying SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.
- Data Studio provides advanced features that can help data engineers create, analyze, and collaborate on SQL queries for applications and business intelligence (BI) users.
- Data Studio is a better data query tool than SQL Server Management Studio but lacks Management Studio’s administration capabilities.
Azure Data Studio is designed for data engineers and query builders to work with SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases. Despite the name, Azure Data Studio is not an Azure service and can be used with data sources outside of Azure as well as those hosted in Azure. The application is available for Linux, macOS, and Windows and was built as an alternative to SQL Server Management Studio, which is available only as a traditional Windows desktop application.
Product Overview
Data Studio offers many of the same database management features that are found in SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), which are tools used by database engineers, database administrators, and developers. Data Studio uses the same connection methods and authentication process and presents the user with the familiar database object structure used by Management Studio and SSDT.
