Configuration Manager will increasingly share the management stage with Intune and will have infrastructure hosted on Azure.
New versions of the product will continue to be released several times a year and require Software Assurance coverage.

System Center Configuration Manager version 1806 is now available. The version could help customers manage larger deployments of Windows 10 systems from within Configuration Manager, consolidate Azure-based management of clients, and transition to Intune when the business is ready. It continues the trend of focusing heavily on client management through Microsoft-hosted services and significantly limiting the features focused on server management on-premises.
