Dynamics 365 ERP 2025 Roadmap: A Balance of AI and Incremental Features

• The latest 2024 Wave 2 for Dynamics 365 ERP shows mostly incremental updates, rather than ground-breaking changes.
• Finance and Supply Chain Management updates will focus mostly on premium features to resolve niche issues for a few customers.
• Disruption from the HR consolidation and One Dynamics One Platform initiatives is mostly over, but still means HR updates are minimal.
• Platform changes make it easier to write Power Apps applications, but the list of deprecated and retiring features are on the rise.

Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations application updates planned for the next 6 to 12 months fall into three categories: Copilot (AI) features that help automate processes and analysis; incremental updates and enhancements that address outstanding issues and gaps in the service; and niche requirements like advanced planning, traditional project management, and creating Power Apps applications. The service has reached a maturity level, which helps customers manage the service with fewer disruptive changes, but it also means the team has started replacing features with newer technology and the number of features being retired is increasing.
