  • Dynamics 365 Project Operations, expected in late 2020, is Microsoft’s latest attempt to provide a consolidated offering for project-based organizations.
  • It combines sales, project management, and accounting features from several Microsoft-hosted applications, potentially reducing overall subscription and integration costs.
  • Existing customers using the Project Service Automation or Finance project management accounting features will need to migrate to Project Operations.
  • Plans for a new Dynamics 365 project offering have changed numerous times, so customers may want to wait for the preview in mid-2020 before making migration plans.

New plans for Dynamics 365 project management include Dynamics 365 Project Operations, a new application planned for availability in late 2020 and intended to eventually replace Project Service Automation (PSA). Microsoft plans to stop selling PSA in Oct. 2020, at which point existing customers will have up to four years (depending on contract) to migrate to the new Project Operations offering.
