  • Dynamics 365 Retail is rebranded Dynamics 365 Commerce in its latest release but retains existing Retail functionality.
  • The version can work with a new add-on that provides online store creation and multichannel purchasing, payment, and delivery for consumers.
  • The online store add-on has shortcomings, but plans include marketing, customer management, and fraud prevention features.

Dynamics 365 continues to compete in the crowded retail and commerce software market with improvements in the Commerce application (previously called Retail) that help organizations address current retail and consumer trends. It may interest growing retail businesses and organizations planning system replacements. The rebranding and release of new features are scheduled for Feb. 3, 2020.

Commerce is a Dynamics 365 Unified Operations application, part of a collection of applications that provides traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP), commerce, and human capital management (HCM) features.
