Dynamics 365 Guides and Remote Assist support ends Dec. 2026, with no Microsoft alternative.

Both products rely on Microsoft’s HoloLens augmented reality headsets, which are no longer manufactured.

Customers should either consider third-party solutions in the Marketplace (additional fees) or reassess their requirements.

In Dec. 2025, Microsoft issued a 12-month notice announcing the retirement of Dynamics 365 Guides and Remote Assist, two longstanding components that use the HoloLens device. The retirement should not be a surprise to anyone, as Microsoft stopped HoloLens production in late 2024 and has never announced a successor. Now is the right time to reassess requirements and determine if augmented reality devices are beneficial or if more low-tech solutions, like sharing through Teams, is a better solution. IT procurement should review and adjust Microsoft agreements and invoices to ensure they are no longer charged subscription fees for the products.
