  • Dynamics 365 Guides and Remote Assist support ends Dec. 2026, with no Microsoft alternative.
  • Both products rely on Microsoft’s HoloLens augmented reality headsets, which are no longer manufactured.
  • Customers should either consider third-party solutions in the Marketplace (additional fees) or reassess their requirements.

In Dec. 2025, Microsoft issued a 12-month notice announcing the retirement of Dynamics 365 Guides and Remote Assist, two longstanding components that use the HoloLens device. The retirement should not be a surprise to anyone, as Microsoft stopped HoloLens production in late 2024 and has never announced a successor. Now is the right time to reassess requirements and determine if augmented reality devices are beneficial or if more low-tech solutions, like sharing through Teams, is a better solution. IT procurement should review and adjust Microsoft agreements and invoices to ensure they are no longer charged subscription fees for the products.
