Analyst ReportDynamics GP 2015 Released
Dynamics GP 2015, released in Dec. 2014, includes significant technical changes, including retirement of the Business Portal, identity management features to connect with Office 365, and a new service architecture that will benefit future cross-platform development and customization efforts. The release also includes a number of new business features and a mature Web client that can replace the desktop client for most users. The changes offer immediate cost and deployment benefits for partners and new customers, but many existing customers will face a significant effort in migrating to GP 2015.
Substantial Technical Changes
Dynamics GP 2015 represents the final phase of substantial technical changes to the product that began with Dynamics GP 2013. The changes include a new workflow engine, service architecture, and identity management that bring Dynamics GP in line with other Microsoft products. However, the changes also break compatibility with prior versions and may require customers to perform a new implementation of GP. The most likely beneficiaries are customers with older versions of GP who can leapfrog the interim releases and deploy GP 2015 as a new starting point, partners that are implementing GP for new customers, and developers who are writing new applications that connect to GP from multiple platforms and devices.
