Analyst ReportDynamics Roadmap Updated at Convergence 2014
The Dynamics customer relationship management (CRM) product team will focus more on marketing processes, social interactions, and customer service as it integrates recent acquisitions. In enterprise resource planning (ERP), the product team will continue to invest in Dynamics AX to challenge Oracle and SAP in large organizations while pursuing small and medium businesses with the Dynamics NAV, GP, and SL products. The roadmap for the Dynamics line, updated at the Mar. 2014 Dynamics Convergence conference, also shows the unit making cloud deployment a priority and rolling out focused mobile apps to address specific business processes on multiple device platforms.
Dynamics Addressing Cloud, Mobile, and Faster Releases
Recent releases and the roadmap show the Dynamics business unit adapting to major forces in IT (cloud, social, and mobile) in ways that also reflect Microsoft’s overall devices and services direction. In the last year, hosted versions of all the Dynamics products have been released. Dynamics CRM Online is a true hosted application, while the other Dynamic products can be hosted in virtual machines (VMs) available through Windows Azure or other service providers. Except for Dynamics SL, they all include automated provisioning capabilities to assist with deploying a complete Dynamics environment into the hosted VMs.
