Analyst ReportFirst Release of SQL Server In-Memory OLTP Shows Promise
SQL Server 2014 In-Memory Online Transactional Processing (OLTP), code-named Hekaton, is a new set of SQL Server Enterprise edition database features that substantially improve transactional performance and offer the potential of creating real-time data analysis and summarization previously unattainable. The features use memory-resident tables and database technologies to take advantage of large memory and multicore processors. Existing recovery processes and most standard T-SQL commands are used with in-memory tables, which will help migration, but using the features may require data schema and application changes, which could hinder early adoption.
