Analyst ReportNew Lumia 950 and 950 XL Devices Announced
Two new premium phones were announced by Microsoft in Oct. 2015 and target users seeking a top-end Windows 10 Mobile device. The 4G LTE devices could be particularly interesting to business users, as they are the first Windows 10 Mobile devices to offer support for Continuum, allowing them to run Universal Windows applications full-screen on an external display, using an optional docking station.
The Lumia 950 offers a 5.2-inch display, while the 950 XL offers a 5.7-inch display. Both devices are based on multicore Qualcomm ARM processors and feature 32GB of built-in storage and up to 200GB of expandable storage. Both offer support for Windows Hello iris-based authentication of users, include 5MP front and 20MP rear cameras (the latter offering optical image stabilization), and provide support for wireless charging (charging plate not included).
The Display Dock will include three USB ports, and both HDMI and DisplayPort for connecting an external display. The Display Dock can charge a phone while docked, and the phone can be used while docked or serve as a trackpad.
