Office 365 administrators use the Security & Compliance Center Web portal to manage and check the security of their Office 365 installations and ensure compliance with governance regulations and corporate policy. Customers wary of Office 365-hosted services for security and regulatory compliance reasons may find that the Security & Compliance Center pulls together documents that can verify that the services comply with requirements and help them understand its own role in compliance. Many tasks still require using other Office 365 administrative portals, but more security and compliance features are migrating to this portal.

Managing Office 365 Security and Compliance

Office 365 is a line of Microsoft-hosted services and subscription software for business productivity. It includes Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business, OneDrive for Business, and other software. Each customer organization is a tenant of the hosted services, and the organization’s administrators use Web portals including the Security & Compliance Center to configure, manage, and secure their Office 365 tenancy. (The Security & Compliance Center has undergone several name changes—it was previously referred to as the Compliance Center and the Protection Center.)
