Project Online offers two project portfolio dashboard applications, called the Office 365 Project Portfolio Dashboard, that are the result of Microsoft’s acquisition of Sensei in early 2015. The applications, available for Web browsers and Apple iPad, allow users to view the status of projects and activities without accessing the full Project Online service. They will most likely be of interest to program managers and executives, but they could also benefit team members who can use the applications to view their individual assignments.

Dashboards include multiple charts and tables that show project progress and variance for cost and schedule, and the status of project issues, such as tasks, resources, and risks. Drill-down and filtering features allow users to limit the data displayed and investigate specific issues or areas of concern.

The applications come with six standard dashboards that can be used as is or modified to suit individual users’ reporting needs. The Web application supports creating new dashboards with a range of charts and reports that designers can drop into different locations on the dashboard. Custom dashboards can be shared among other users in the tenancy and used with the iPad application.
