The Surface Laptop joins the family of Surface computers available from Microsoft. The laptop comes in four colors (depending on configuration) and is available with either an Intel i5 or i7 processor. It uses Intel integrated graphics processors to drive a 13.5-inch PixelSense Display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, 3.4M pixels, and edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The screen supports pen and 10-point multitouch input to facilitate selection of objects and pinching and zooming gestures. Although announced with Windows 10 S, the Surface Laptop can run any Windows 10 edition.

RAM can be configured from 4GB to 16GB, and solid state storage is available from 128GB to 512GB. The laptop has a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) to support BitLocker, Windows Hello, and other security features of Windows 10. It includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi wireless networking and is IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n compatible. Peripherals primarily connect via Bluetooth 4.0 LE and USB 3.0, and it can be connected to the Surface Dock.
