Exchange Online Protection Roadmap
(This entry has been archived. For the latest roadmap of this service, see Exchange Online Roadmap.)
Exchange Online Protection (EOP) is a security gateway service for e-mail with malware filtering, spam filtering, and spoofing protection (domain and sender authentication). It is included with all Microsoft 365 services that provide e-mail.
Product: Exchange Online Protection
Licensing: Exchange Online Protection
Near Term
EOP is updated continually and subject to Microsoft’s Online Services Support Policy. It receives regular small improvements. Many recent improvements focus on authentication and protecting the privacy of Internet mail exchanges, as Exchange adopts new security standards, such as DANE for SMTP.
Long Term
EOP improvements will focus on the most common automated threats and on Exchange Online mailboxes. However, EOP will continue supporting Exchange Server and other mail applications in customer and third-party datacenters for the foreseeable future, because it has been an important part of migrating customers to Exchange Online.
