Update Oct. 2025 – Data Agents are the new focus in Data Science, providing a natural language interface for users and applications to query data without complex code and integrations.

Fabric Data Science provides an environment where data scientists can explore data, cleanse and prep data, conduct experiments, and build machine learning (ML) models that are used by other parts of the data analytics process, and in daily operations for scoring and predictions. Developers can create and collaborate on models and data through shared notebooks.

As part of Fabric, Data Science uses the same UI, workspaces, and data storage components as the other Fabric experiences, allowing it to participate in end-to-end workloads.

Recent Updates and Near-Term Roadmap (2025–2026)

The near-term roadmap for Data Science will focus on updates to Data Agents, Microsoft’s newest AI-related offering in Fabric. Unlike other Fabric components, Data Science does not have a predecessor it is replacing, and there is no need to bring it to parity with a previous offering.
