RoadmapOffice for the Web
Office for the Web (formerly known as Office Online and sometimes called Office on the Web by Microsoft) delivers Microsoft-hosted Web applications that enable viewing and limited editing of Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and Word documents in a browser.
Capabilities and Limitations
Office for the Web has implemented many of the features of the desktop Office suite (and in some cases is where features are tested out before they are made available in the desktop applications).
However, applications lack many features of the Office suite; for example, users cannot work on documents while offline and cannot access local storage; if users’ known folders have been redirected to OneDrive storage, they can work with documents anywhere they have an Internet connection. However, the applications can be useful for traveling workers or workers who do not have a dedicated installation of the Office desktop applications but need to quickly review and make small changes to documents.
