RoadmapOneDrive for Business Roadmap
OneDrive for Business provides hosted file storage and sharing for Microsoft 365 users and for on-premises deployments. The service includes the storage itself and a client-side synchronization engine that access the files from multiple platforms. The hosted version, OneDrive for Business Online, is an Office 365 service. The on-premises version relies on SharePoint Server.

Near Term (2025)
The following near-term improvements are planned for 2025. Many were originally planned for 2024 but delayed while the team focused on adding Copilot everywhere:
Copilot in OneDrive will continue receiving additional features, although exclusively in the cloud edition, rather than on-premises. Plans include more options in the viewing pane and automating tasks such as creating a presentation from a Word file without opening the file. Other features will allow users to save Copilot responses into a Word file, rather than copying and pasting; build agents for OneDrive to help consolidate search from multiple locations; and ask questions about more file types like meeting recordings, images, and latest changes.
