Overall Near- and Long-Term Roadmap
The most newsworthy impact to Power BI is the introduction of Microsoft Fabric, which became generally available in Nov. 2023. Fabric is a data and analytics offering that combines versions of several Azure services and Power BI. The benefit of Fabric is that it preserves the capabilities of the individual services but brings them together with new collaboration and data-sharing features that make it easier to work on end-to-end processes. Fabric also unifies back-end management and security, which can reduce complexity and cost, improve security and compliance, and speed deployment.
