Viva Connections, one of several components in Microsoft’s Employee Experience Platform (EXP), is a Teams app that provides a central hub for organizational news, resources, and communications. Employees have a personalized dashboard where they can organize relevant feeds, tools, and other resources. Organizations can use it to push messages and updates down to employees.

Recent Updates and Near Term Roadmap (2026)

Viva Connections will be integrated more tightly with SharePoint Online in the first half of 2026, for example:

Viva Connections will be renamed the SharePoint App in Teams. This change will not affect customers who have already configured and branded the Teams app, at least initially.

The SharePoint Online Home Site will provide content for the app’s startup screen. Viva Connections’ built-in templates for the screen will continue to work.
