Windows Enterprise Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) versions are specialized versions of the Windows client OS, designed for fixed or single function devices.

Product: Windows Enterprise Long Term Servicing Channel Overview

Licensing: Licensing Windows Enterprise LTSC

According to Microsoft, LTSC versions are not intended for deployment on most or all the devices in an organization. Rather, LTSC versions provide a deployment option for special-purpose devices and environments.

Generally, such devices perform a single important task and do not need frequent or even annual Feature Updates. However, as the feature set for an LTSC remains constant for the lifetime of the release, eventually some applications may not run correctly on the LTSC version because the application has a dependency that is not present in the LTSC version.

Near-Term Plans (2024 and 2025)

Windows 10 LTSC

Before the Nov. 2021 Windows 10 LTSC became generally available, LTSC versions followed the Traditional Support Lifecycle Policy, and therefore, were entitled to five years of Mainstream and five years of Extended support.
