Major developments in Microsoft’s database, application development, and Web products since the June 2014 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:
- SQL Server 2012 received a second service pack on June 6, 2014, that includes numerous bug fixes, enhancements, and improvements to replication and other services. The release of SP2 begins the countdown to the end-of-support date for SP1, on July 15, 2015.
- Power BI received enhancements to its Web and Windows Store solutions, a new interactive forecasting tool, and enhanced integration options that should simplify access to a wide range of on-premises data sources.
- Mainstream support for SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 ended on July 8, 2014. Both releases are now in the Extended support section of their life cycle.
- Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 became generally available in May 2014.
- Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 became generally available in Aug. 2014.
