Major developments for Microsoft’s business applications roadmap since the Apr. 2015 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:

  • Office 2016 for Windows received a new preview in May 2015 and is planned for release in the second half of 2015.
  • Office 2013 SP1 is required for Microsoft product support after Apr. 14, 2015.
  • Exchange 2013 SP1 became required for Exchange 2013 support in Apr. 2015.
  • Exchange 2013 CU8 became generally available in Mar. 2015.
  • A preview of Outlook 2016 became available in Mar. 2015.
  • Exchange 2016 was announced in May 2015.
  • SharePoint Server 2016 and Project Server 2016 are planned for release in the first half of 2016 according to a new plan announced in May 2015.
  • Office 2013, SharePoint Server 2013, and Project Server 2013 installations require SP1 for Microsoft product support as Apr. 14, 2015.
  • SharePoint Designer will be discontinued, but SharePoint Designer 2013 will still be able to customize SharePoint Server 2016 on-premises
