Azure Arc enabled data services enables hosting of high-end Azure database services outside of Azure.
Local hosting provides simplified management, capacity scaling to control cost, and access to Azure security.
Deployments require Kubernetes clusters and at least occasional connectivity to Azure.
The features are in preview, and capabilities and limitations will likely change.

Azure Arc can help customers use Azure SQL Managed Instance and Database for PostgreSQL while maintaining an on-premises footprint. The service (now known as Azure Arc enabled SQL Managed Instance) can help customers meet compliance requirements that may have prevented them from using Azure-hosted database services. However, Arc data services usage requires new deployment technology and connectivity to Azure that could expose sensitive information to Microsoft.
