RoadmapMicrosoft Lists Roadmap
Microsoft Lists is a multiuser data-tracking service layer based on SharePoint list technology that lets users create, share, and edit structured lists of tabular data. It can replace sharing Excel workbooks and simple Power App applications and is the successor to classic SharePoint lists (including document libraries). Available templates speed list creation, and it supports various data types, views, and automation. Microsoft Lists can be stand-alone and used with Teams, SharePoint, and Power Platform.

Near-Term Updates and Roadmap (2026)
Microsoft Lists continue transitioning to a structured data tool for Teams, SharePoint, Power Platform, and Copilot. In addition to Copilot integration, expect to see more updates to data management capabilities and tie-ins where Microsoft Lists replaces legacy list technology across Microsoft 365, like classic SharePoint lists.
Updates
Microsoft Lists will receive Copilot support through two SharePoint agents. The Knowledge agent can use Microsoft Lists as data sources to help users find information and answers. The SharePoint List agent can turn prompts and structured information into Microsoft Lists. There’s not likely to be a “Copilot in Lists” though. Copilot and agent features will continue to be inherited through SharePoint, Teams, and Power Platform platforms.
