SidebarDynamics 365 Security Roles Are Key to Compliance Checking
All Dynamics 365 users are assigned one or more security roles, which grant them access to specific features and the right to update specific data. The service comes with predefined security roles that closely align with licensing requirements. For example, the Salesperson security role provides rights to sales opportunities, quotes, and invoices, which are licensed through a Sales Enterprise subscription, and the Sales Manager security role provides additional rights for managing products, forecasting, and overall team metric data, which are licensed through a combination of Sales Enterprise and Sales Insights subscriptions.
Potential Problems with Security Roles
As long as admins assign the right security roles to each person and avoid modifying the security roles, then an organization stands a good chance of maintaining compliance. However, that rarely happens, because most organizations take advantage of Dynamics 365’s flexibility and modify security roles and functionality to meet special requirements, processes, or custom applications.
