  • Unified Operations Finance & Operations separates into multiple applications.
  • Plan benefits are removed, increasing costs for some customers.
  • PowerApps users accessing Dynamics 365 data will see cost increases.

Dynamics 365’s latest release, Dynamics 365 2019 Wave 2, began on Oct. 1, 2019, and brought packaging changes that removed all existing plans, modified previous rights, restricted PowerApps usage, and introduced other limitations. (The feature updates are discussed in “Dynamics 365 Unified Operations 2019 Wave 2.”)

Packaging Overview

Dynamics 365 Unified Operations provides traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP), retail, e-commerce, and human capital management (HCM) capabilities.

It consists of several applications that can be used independently or as an integrated solution, primarily based on Finance, Supply Chain Management, Retail, and Talent applications. The service also includes numerous add-on solutions and a group of stand-alone applications that work independently or with other Dynamics 365 applications. (For packaging details, see the illustration “Unified Operations Packaging, Oct. 2019”.)
