Project Online is a Microsoft 365 subscription service that is part of Microsoft’s legacy Project line of project management software and services. It supports structured project management methods (sometimes called “waterfall” methods) common in engineering, construction, and other industries with complex projects.

The Project Online service will shut down in Sept. 2026 and remove access to all customer data in the service, so customers should immediately start migrating to an alternative.

Near-Term Updates and Roadmap (2026)

Project Online will shut down on Sept. 30, 2026, and end access to all customer data in the service. Customers should immediately begin moving to another member of the Project family, or a competitor such as Oracle Primavera.

Project Web App, a browser interface to the service, starts tightening the screws Apr. 1, 2026. After that date, no new PWA sites can be created, and existing sites that contain no projects will become inaccessible.
