Near-Term Updates and Roadmap (2026–2027)

Project Operations continues its multiyear effort of moving the service to a new architecture, based in Dataverse, and improving user productivity with various UI updates. Most of the recent updates, which were originally announced in 2025, have become available in Mar. 2026, right before the next wave of announcements.

Recent Updates

Microsoft has concentrated investments in four themes that target financial control, operational efficiency, and user productivity.

Modernized billing and revenue management. Enhancements to invoicing, retainers, discounts, and revenue recognition focus on reducing friction in high-volume billing scenarios while improving compliance. The cumulative effect is faster billing cycles, fewer corrective invoices, and better alignment with accounting standards.
