Project Online is a Microsoft 365 subscription service that provides central management, automated scheduling, resource management, and other functions for project managers and their teams. It is part of Microsoft’s legacy Project line of project management software and services.

Project Online will shut down in Sept. 2026 and remove access to all customer data in the service, so customers should immediately start migrating to an alternative.

Product: Project Online

Licensing: Project Online

Near-Term (2025-2026)

The shutdown does not affect Project Server or the desktop software (Project LSTC Standard, Project LTSC Professional, and Project Online desktop). Project Server SE, which will be the only supported version of Project Server as of Oct. 2025, remains a viable migration destination for customers of Project Server 2016, Project 2019, and Project Online.

Paths from Project Online are discussed in “Project Online to Shut Down Sept. 30, 2026“.
