To Do is a cloud service for managing an individual’s task lists across devices, in Exchange Online, Teams, and in the To Do Web app. To Do is intended for a single user’s workload, rather than a group, but it has integration with Planner task and project management: For example, users can see and update their individual To Do tasks in Planner.

Short and Long Term (2026 and Beyond)

To Do is now the primary individual task manager in Exchange Online, Outlook, and Teams, and it is included in most Office 365 and Microsoft 365 suites. New development seems to have stopped: Microsoft lists no planned near-term improvements in its own roadmap.

To Do will probably survive as a separate service from Planner, even though many enterprise users have rights to both. To Do will continue to handle individual tasks that are not part of group work, and will serve consumers and small businesses whose licenses do not include Planner.
