Near-Term Updates and Roadmap (2026)
The latest updates focus on adding capabilities to remain compatible with the online service. Some features of earlier releases, such as payroll, remain missing, and for these, Microsoft is directing customers to third-party vendors who have developed solutions for the Dynamics 365 cloud service.
Across the applications available on-premises, there are new reporting and analytics capabilities and incremental changes to features and the main UI, such as implementing a look-and-feel that matches the latest Office product design.
Not all cloud features are available on-premises. For example, newer AI-based Copilot features are currently limited to applications accessed through the cloud service. However, Microsoft may start introducing some capabilities to benefit local deployments, primarily warehousing in Supply Chain Management and retail features in Commerce.
