Teams Core Capabilities Roadmap

Microsoft Teams is a cloud service that offers group-based collaboration spaces with persistent chat, voice and video meetings, capabilities to receive and place external calls on a public-switched telephone network (PSTN), integrated access to Microsoft 365 services like SharePoint Online and Planner, and connections to many third-party services. Previously included in all Microsoft 365 and Office 365 suites, Teams has been unbundled from Microsoft 365 and Office 365 Enterprise suites for new customers globally effective Apr. 1, 2024; existing customers can continue to purchase suites that still include Teams. Teams is the primary Microsoft 365 service for unified communication, telephony, and team-based collaboration, and serves as a hub for other Microsoft 365 services.
